It’s 12 Days of Christmas, and this is an epic story! Ray Simmonds and Jeff Petit were two bros from Northern California that were good friends with Mike Ternasky. They were early adopters of a street skating movement and gave rise to the idea of going big in a very progressive way that laid immense influence on a generation of street skaters to follow. Ray was featured in Shackle Me Not and both he and Jeff Petit pulled some incredibly huge, progressive and creative ways of street skating stunts. One of the more notable shots was Ray going off an 80’s launch ramp and doing a stalegrab over a ladder, all in slomo. This image was so iconic in early street skating but especially Ray Simmonds, who would remain a true skater and innovator from that point but choose a path of engineering rather than professional skateboarding.
