Java Preanger

This is a fresh and complex Java that has much more personality than most beans we see from there. Preanger is part of the Pangalengan district in West Java and they have been improving and growing for several years, now even supporting a local school and becoming as environmentally friendly as possible and helping the neighborhood families. These beans grow high in the mountains at about 4000 foot altitude and has deep volcanic lava soil which is a recipe for great beans. It is rare to find a Java that has complexity, so this one is pretty exciting. At a medium roast (just barely into 2nd cracks) you will taste grapefruit and tangerine and tobacco and chocolate and a lot of sweetness and full bodied mouthfeel. There's also hints of cranberry, malt, and oak. In darker roasts (15 or so seconds into 2nd cracks) the flavor flattens out and it's not as interesting, but you still get good mouthfeel and sweetness and tobacco notes.
