Yooper Stone Sterling Silver Ring
I cut the stone in this ring from a piece of yooper sodalite (sodalite in syenite) that we found in the UP of Michigan on the south shore of Lake Superior. It's a beautiful stone with a dalmatian like pattern. This is a large stone but it's really comfortable with the thick silver band I made for it. This ring is all solid sterling silver. I hand forged and formed both the band and the base of the setting for this ring in recycled sterling silver. I cut the stone in a domed elongated oval. It's held by a decorative bezel. I added texture to both the band and the base of the setting. I antiqued the silver (intentionally darkened) to highlight the patterning I added to the design. This ring is a set size 7. The band is about 4 mm wide. The stone measures about 27 x 15 mm. The stone glows orange under UV light and is shown illuminated with a 365nm (lumenshooter) UV light. This ring definitely makes a statement! Our stones are mirror polished and so there will be reflections in the pictur
