7th Century Coptic Textile Fragment (Saracenic)- 9" x 11"
This Coptic textile was woven in Egypt or the Levant in the 7th century AD. It features two confronting birds beak to beak surrounded by remnants of a circle made of white dots on a dark blue/green ground. It is flanked by borders of intersecting blocks in blue, yellow and green. There is a suggestion of latchooked roundels on the remaining bottom section of the fragment. In good condition considering its significant age. The fragment has been mounted to a fabric and framed to better display and secure the piece. View our whole Coptic collection here!
