Antique Baluch Rug - 3'6 x 5'7

This vintage Baluch rug was handwoven in Afghanistan during the early 20th century. It features a variation of the tree of life with branches with two-quartered leaves blossoming out of a central axis. This common Baluch motif is rendered in natural blues, browns, red,s and an early synthetic pinky tone upon a desirable camel field. An inner border of star-like rosettes stays within the camel field and the whole is framed by a main border interlocking rosettes in red with a deeply oxidized brown.  In good condition, signs of wear are consistent with age. The browns have naturally oxidized over time adding dimensionality to the design. The pile is low, with a sturdy handle. Part of the original kilim end is still intact on one end. Both ends have been reinforced for longevity.
