8th Century Colorful Coptic Fragment - 8" x 10"
This Coptic textile was woven in Syria or Egypt in the 8th century AD. It features a colorful pattern of striped bands with ducks and a pacman-like floral motif alternating. A couple of other forms also make an appearance including a rosette and a rabbit. Smaller rows of scrolling vegetation add additional layers. In good condition considering its significant age. The fragment has been mounted to a fabric to better display and secure the piece. The fabric has some discoloration towards the bottom right (as pictured). View our whole Coptic collection here!
