Antique Kazak Rug - 3' x 4'3
This Kazak rug was handwoven in the southern Caucasus during the late 19th Century. It features interlocking rows of partially and fully formed stepped polygons with some. They arranged mostly in a consistent pattern in reds, blue, yellow, ivry and brown yet one of the shapes shifts color from yellow to blue which breaks the balance and adds a touch of chaos to the rendering. the whole is framed by a bright border of polychrome starbursts. In fair conditon with all over wear, oxidized browns and a small hole near the center (as pictured). All four sides have been reinforced for longevity.
