Antique Veramin Trapping - 1’8 x 3’5
This bagface was likely intended as the front panel of an animal trapping. It features a central hooked device on a navy ground filled with various animals and protection symbols. Framed by a wide main border of multicolored eight-pointed stars on an ivory ground which is flanked by two minor borders of multicolored ovals on a soft red ground. It is finished with a slit kilim top and dotted skirt end. Nicely embellished with a salt and pepper weft float on end. In very good condition, with some wear in the field and along the edges. Nice hearty wool in the pile as well as in the visible brown warps. One corner is fraying (pictured), but the overall condition is solid.
