This stunning Isfahan rug was handwoven during the early 20th century. It features an elaborate and geometric mosaic of rosettes, stars, and latticework that is more commonly associated with Safavid architecture and bookbinding. It is contained within the main border of meandering cartouches and minor borders of polychrome rosettes. Isfahan was known as one of the finest centers of rug production and this rug is an attractive example of workshop craftsmanship. In good condition, with some excess wear near one end but structurally sound.
