Contemporary Afghan Heriz - 5’2 x 7’10
This Heriz-style rug was handwoven in Afghanistan in the 21st century. It features classic Heriz patterning but with the more rounded central medallion often associated with Armenian woven Herizs. A wide but soft-spoken palette that is well-balanced plays off of contrast. The main border is composed of blossoming palmettes on thick and visually interesting meandering vines that lend drama to the rug. It utilizes high-quality Ghazni wool and natural dyes making a hard-wearing new production piece that properly honors old techniques and craftsmanship. In excellent unused condition.
