Antique Baluch Rug - 2'3 x 4'
This Baluch rug was woven during the early 20th century in western Afghanistan. This rug features a diagonal hooked-diamond devices on a camel ground. The diamonds are woven in reds and blues and outlined in either brown or red. The main border is composed of repeating 's' shapes, resembling a pair of opposing roosters, which is a Baluchi symbol of authority and leadership. In fair condition, with wear throughout (pictured), with some oxidization on the brown wool. Original kilim skirt border still intact, but with frayed ends. Pile is low, with a sturdy handle.
