Golden Silk Tianjin Rug - 4' x 7’
This silk rug was handwoven during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Tianjin, China. It features a central medallion on golden field and vase-filled cornices. The medallion and field are full of auspicious symbols like books, scrolls, and endless knots each emphasized with a cloudband. The border is very interesting as it is composed of different styles of rosette latticework with endless knots in each corner. Nicely finished with golden fringes adding further distinction. In very good condition, with minimal wear. Dense with a floppy handle and lustrous touch.
