Early 19th Century Ningxia Rug - 5'5 x 7'

This Ningxia rug was handwoven in China during the early 19th century.  The main design is composed of a central mandala flanked by four smaller medallions over an intricate diamond lattice repeat. With a classic Ningxia palette that includes two shades of blue, brown, ivory, mauve and a desirable imperial yellow ground. The main border design features floral motifs on a mauve ground. The inner minor borders features a Greek key motif and the outer perimeter border features bands of both blue tones. In fair condition with lots of wear and oxidation. Partially backed with an indigo-dyed cloth.
