(Rosa palustris) Swamp rose is native to eastern North America where it thrives in marginal areas. It is tolerant of wet feet and acidic soils making it a good choice where other plants may fail. Beautifully fragrant 2 inch pink blooms appear in early summer and result in bright red rose hips in fall that provide wonderful forage for wildlife. (zone 5)
