1960s Heuer Carrera '12' Ref. 2447D With Blue Decimal Scale
Why This Watch Matters A manual-winding Carrera, this one with the added benefit of cool, cool blue details, not to mention that two-tone dial! The Full Story With a case made by Ervin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA) and an innovative tension ring that left the dial cleaner and easier to read, Jack Heuer's 1963 creation of the Carrera remains one of the greatest designs in the history of wristwatches. Heuer introduced the "first Carrera," the triple-register, in 1963 alongside a dual-register Carrera ref. 3647. In the catalog, it was dubbed the "Carrera 12." Among the rest of the Carreras offered by Heuer, the "Carrera Deci" versions of both the 12 and the 45 are a bit of a rarity. More than an extra color on the dial, these variants have a two-tone silver dial that is ever-so-slightly chromatic in the decimal scale. The example we have here is a "first execution" Carrera without a "T" on the dial and retaining the earlier details like the polished steel hands. This watch is in good, daily-weare
