1940s E. Gübelin Lucerne Triple Date
Why This Watch Matters This is one of the nicest triple calendar watches we have seen in a while, and the unusual black day and month discs are striking. The Full Story One of the oldest watch retailers, Gübelin, put its name on many double-signed Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet watches back in the day. But it did not stop there – Gübelin also offered its own line of watches, from the famous Ipsomatic to the current triple calendar example seen here. The retailer showed that it knew a thing or two about design; the black date disc adds extra legibility to the triple calendar complication. The painted indexes, luminous handset, and steel case ensured that the watch was practical as well. The Fine Print Maker: E.
