Chamomile, Roman

Roman chamomile has been used as a medicinal plant and for its flavor since the middle ages in Europe. It has been used as a painkiller, diuretic and digestive aid and now is commonly used for its calming properties in teas. Chamomile: A classic herb for the kitchen garden! It is native to eastern and southern Europe but can naturalize here in New York easily once established Growing Tips: Chamomile is a great perennial and will often last for years and spread in the garden. Look to keep it a little confined or give it a container and space of its own so it doesn't crowd out neighbors over the year. Plant can be placed 6 to 8 inches apart to get a healthy stand started.
