Plant seeds 1/2-1/4 of an inch deep, 1 inch apart, with 18 inches between rows Red Treviso is originally from Italy.  The leaves are green in the summer and gain dark red color in cool weather; they are typically red with white stripes and stems when ready for harvest. Harvest the heads when they are fully firm by cutting them a couple inches above the soil.  You can leave the roots for regrowth.  They have a tart and bitter taste.
