Honey Brook No. 2 Birdcage Awl
The new Honey Brook No. 2 Birdcage Awl promises the same great feel and performance as the original, but with a slightly different but classic aesthetic. I created this handle design in response to a customer's specific request. The handle features a slightly wider bead behind the ferrule which some users might find provides some greater leverage. The birdcage awl, used to start and ream holes, is an essential piece of a traditional hand tool woodworker's kit. I drew inspiration for the handles on the Honey Brook Birdcage Awl from classic vintage tools in my shop. I designed the size and shape of the handle to maximize both comfort and control. Every hand I make is hand-turned to order with the use of CNC machines or lathe duplicators.
