Black Inca
The Black Inca Hummingbird is a medium-sized bird, measuring approximately 13 to 14 cm in length. As its name suggests, its most distinctive feature is its striking black plumage. The entire body, from its head to its tail, is covered in glossy, iridescent black feathers that create a mesmerizing effect when they catch the sunlight. This unique coloration sets it apart from the more brightly colored hummingbirds typically associated with the tropics. In addition to its black plumage, the Black Inca exhibits a few other notable physical characteristics. It has a relatively short bill compared to other hummingbird species, which is perfectly adapted for extracting nectar from flowers. Its wings are long and pointed, allowing it to hover and maneuver with incredible precision. The tail feathers are also relatively short and rounded, which aids in its stability during flight.
