On this ladder, Jacob dreamed of angels ascending and descending amidst brilliant light and color. In her Jacob's Ladder Series of paintings, Mel Ahlborn envisions Jacob's dream as channels of light in an atmosphere different from and near to the atmosphere of earth. Within these atmospheres, Ahlborn paints figures that observe, rest within, and at times pierce these pathways.
