Fire Crest (Copadichromis virginalis)
Remarks: One of the most beautiful utaka species is the Firecrest Hap, Copadichromis virginalis. Males have black bodies with a bright red dorsal fin and a white blaze over the forehead. They are peaceful fish and prefer to swim in the open water. They are reportedly only found once a year near Mozambique, where they gather 90' deep to spawn. Additionally, they are said to be extinct in the wild due to overfishing, so breeding these extremely rare fish is of the utmost importance.
