c. 1900s; Fairbanks, Morse and Co. - St. Johnsbury, VT Antique beam balance counter scale. An unpainted platform supports two columns holding a double brass beam. The left column has a Doric design with wing-shaped cutouts, while the right displays "FAIRBANKS" lettering and a weight storage bar. Three slotted weights-50 lbs, 100 lbs, and an unmarked one-are supposed to be stored below but are not included. The beam's upper bar measures up to 10 lbs in 1 oz increments and the lower bar up to 50 lbs in half-pound increments. A calibration weight and "scoop weight" are positioned on the left for use with a tin or brass scoop.
