Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic example of a Mid-War M1910 Schirmmütze Feldgrau Visor Cap as worn by the Infantry during WWI. The later M1907/1910 version would move to the Feldgrau (Fieldgray) that was seen mostly during the war. The cap constructed of dark gray wool, which was the standard color for all states. It has Ponceaurot (poppy red) wool piping and red band, which indicate that it was for an infantry soldier. The front of the cap bears a Black, White and Red Reichskokarde (Imperial Cockade) on the front of the crown, with a Black and Silver Cockade on the cap band for Prussia. The interior is lined with a polished canvas type lining which is partially detached and torn. The thin leather sweatband is present but there is cracking, tearing and detachment from the visor itself. The sweat band has a Russian type marking, an indication that this was produced by a tailor close to the Eastern Front. We estimate the size to be about a 56cm / US 7. A lovely exam
