Original Imperial German WWI Prussian M1910 Feldgrau Infantry Officer Schirmmütze Visor Cap Named to 77th Infantrie Regiment Officer
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic example of a Mid-War M1910 Schirmmütze Feldgrau Visor Cap as worn by the Infantry during WWI. The later M1907/1910 version would move to the Feldgrau (Fieldgray) that was seen mostly during the war. The cap constructed of dark gray wool, which was the standard color for all states. It has Ponceaurot (poppy red) wool piping and red band, which indicate that it was for an infantry officer. This example has a crown stiffener and is named on the interior to a Kupsser of I.R. 77. The front of the cap bears a Black, White and Red Reichskokarde (Imperial Cockade) on the front of the crown, with a Black and Silver Cockade on the cap band for Prussia. The interior is lined with a polished canvas type lining which is in fair shape with some heavy wear. The thin leather sweatband is present but there is cracking, tearing and detachment from the visor itself. We estimate the size to be about a 56cm / US 7. There is some light moth tracking in
