Original item: Only One Available. Here we have a very nice original Eagle Headed U.S. Officer's sword from the 1830s, right before the Mexican-American War. The sword is all brass mounted with an interesting two part "D" hand guard and a a very nice "closed mouth" Eagle pommel. The grip is carved ribbed bone, and while it does show age, we do not see any cracks or chips on it at all. The eagle's head is very well executed, with a lovely antiqued brass patina. It is however now loose on the blade, as is the crossguard. The sword is 34 inches long overall, with a straight 29 1/2 inch single edged blade, with a broad fuller. It has a bright steel finish, and the original etching is still retained but very faded. There are foliate designs on both sides.
