Original Victorian Era Belgian Double Barreled Brass Pocket Percussion Pistol - Circa 1840
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely utilitarian double barreled brass framed pocket percussion pistol, made in Liège, Belgium for the European and American export markets. These were quite popular for self-protection, and having two barrels definitely would give the owner increased protection. Pistols like this were equally at home on dark Streets of New York or of London in Victorian England. The smoothbore barrels measure about 3 1/2" in length, and are one solid piece, most likely machined out of a single piece of brass. The pistol measures almost 7 1/4" overall, perfect for an overcoat pocket. It is marked on the left side with E / L G / * in an oval, indicating manufacture in Liège, Belgium. There is another proof mark above this, standard for the Belgian guns, which usually represent a specific inspector. There are no other markings on the pistol whatsoever.
