This is a BEAUTIFUL nearly complete Fossil Tusk from the American Mastodon (Mammut americanum) from the Pleistocene of Florida! The piece measures 24 Inches (60.96 cm) long and 4.41 x 3.22 Inches (11.2 x 8.18 cm) at its base and weighs 5.88 pounds with no repair or restoration! The piece has been given an acrylic coating for stability. It comes with a custom made base with a plaque for a beautiful display! The American Mastodon is a close relative of elephants and Mammoths that first appeared 8 million years ago and went extinct at the end of the Ice Age. Although often confused with Mammoths, Mastodons were shorter, stockier, had straighter tusks, and flatter heads. This specimen is the Pleistocene of Florida, 1 million to 12 thousand years old.
