A Mother’s Love Demeter was a mom. We all know the story of her daughter Persephone. The emergence of spring and summer signals Persephone’s return to her mother and the world of the living. But the story is also about motherhood and the necessary pain of letting a child go so that she can fully become herself. Mothering is difficult, especially when you have to let the child go. Motherhood and the continuous interplay between separation and reunification, breaking apart to come together again, and all the grief and joy in between makes mothering one of the hardest jobs there is. We can never thank our moms enough for everything they’ve done and continue to do for us. One day a year isn’t enough to celebrate motherhood and everything our moms do for us. Mothers want kind words and sincere appreciation for doing their best at being
