Tracing the Shift - 36x36"

Size: 36"x36"   Inspiration:  The Transitions Collection is a meditation on the shifts we all move through — the endings, beginnings, and in-between spaces that shape us. This summer has reminded me how much of our life is spent in transition. We started with a two-week family trip to Ireland, and soon I’ll move my eldest son into his first year at UCLA. (I hope I’ve already cried my tears and can simply enjoy the adventure ahead.) These kinds of transitions often make it hard for me to focus on painting, which is ironic because painting is the one thing that helps me feel grounded when I need it most. The collection I planned to finish in spring took a little longer to come together, but the timing feels right. The thing about transitions is that they rarely feel comfortable while we’re in them. Yet once we move through, they leave us with strength, clarity, and growth. Creating this body of work pushed me — not in a new direction with my art, but in my patience with myself and my
