A beautiful, and rare, hand tinted photograph by Adolphe Braun which is part of his series Costumes de Suisse from circa 1869. The Canton of Soleure, Switzerland features an attractive young lady standing on a balcony. Her head rests in one hand and her other hand hold onto the balcony rail. She is surrounded by ivy with what looks like a shawl hanging over the rail. She is wearing a dress and hat typical of the Solothurn Switzerland area. The photo card measures approx 8 1/8" x 6 3/8" with the actual image sizing being about 6 1/4" x 4 1/2". I believe the photograph is of French origin and use the albumen silver print technique. Condition: tanning, foxing, spotting and board is wavy from moisture with edge wear. Please ask specific questions regarding this item if you have specific details that are important to you before you purchase. This item is suitable for framing and would make a beautiful addition to any collection. Please do review all of the photographs as they are of the act
