Winter Cottonwoods

Ridgway, Colorado This was taken on a beautiful December morning when the Uncompahgre Valley received almost 30” of snow overnight. This old homestead with the towering Cottonwood trees made for a beautiful black and white image. With the snow still falling, this made this scene very simple and contra-sty. If you look closely, you can see birds hunkered down on the tree limbs, waiting out the storm. This homestead has now been torn down, and this is one of the few images reminding us of our rich ranching and mining history.
