Orthoceras mollusks lived in ancient Ordovician oceans millions of years ago. Their aragonite shells fossilized into a white-like calcite, which now is an attractive contrast to the dark limestone they hardened in. Daphne and Leland Boone's wonderful Bear has been carved from a fascinating orthoceras to a dimension of about 2 3/4" long, 1/2" wide and 1" tall. Expressive eyes are from turquoise inlays.
