Kitchen Work #8: The Vegetable Issue

Kitchen Work is a journal published out of San Francisco, edited by food professionals and activists.  Each issue takes on a particular theme, and writers of all experiences and types are invited to contribute. The relative newness and 'zine-like, underground nature of the periodical opens itself up to a swath of writers and creatives as yet untapped by mainstream publications. The result is a collection of fresh, unencumbered voices and perspectives. Issue #8, The Vegetable Issue includes contributions from, among others: Stephen Wade on shoulder seasons, the in-between times in greenmarkets when one growing season has ended and another has not quite started Emily Luchetti on the poetry of citrus Sumitra Mattai on the prehistoric appeal of bitter melon Drue Mirchand on the connection between her grandfather's vegetable garden, her career as a chef, and the plot of land she now tends Paperback.
