His head is bent forward with the weight of the box, and his arms are raised to carry. His face and the front of his body are in shadow. Texture: Thick layers of oils with cold wax medium have been applied in layers, and abraded or scraped back to reveal layers underneath. The resulting patina has a visceral, textural surface.
