2022-2023 Media: Cold wax, oils, marble dust, and dry pigment Substrate: cradled birch panel prepared with acrylic gesso and acrylic medium Dimensions: 16in x 16in x 1 5/8in   What am I looking at?  This painting is an exploration of the deepest blue, and how many shifts and variants can be seen when the value (darkness) of the color is dialed all the way back. There are dozens of shades of blue here, with turquoise and teal and indigo and black, and purple. There are also surface "ripples" and variations of surface shininess, from a low sheen to a matte surface. While this painting is very dark, there is a lot to see if you quiet your eyes and look.
