2022 Media: Cold wax, oils, charcoal, marble dust, and dry pigment Substrate: cradled birch panel prepared with acrylic gesso and acrylic medium Dimensions: 16in x 16in x 1 5/8in   What am I looking at?  This painting is all about the variations of color and texture in "warm dark" - reds, browns, black, purple, orange, and all the shades in between. There are many many layers, and in the larger center band there are no distinct edges even though there is a noticeable change of color from one area to another. Some of the texture is organic and seems to grow, and some of the texture is abraded and worn or scratched.
