All the blues. The underlying surface has been lightly sculpted with an undulating surface texture, which was prepared with acrylic medium and composite gilding. The transparent and semi-transparent layers of oil and cold wax layer in blues from purplish indigo to greenish teals. The darker depths give way to a lighter area near the top, as if you are looking up towards the surface of water from underneath. The reflective surface of the gilding allows light to bounce back from the surface, depending on the angle of the viewer and the light source, so the painting seems to glow slightly. How big is it?
