2022 Media: Cold wax, oils, ink, charcoal, graphite, marble dust, and dry pigment Substrate: cradled birch panel prepared with acrylic gesso and acrylic medium Dimensions: 20in x 24in x 1 5/8in   What am I looking at?  This painting is a celebration of the range of hot, saturated red and magenta against the cool solidity of a dark, cool, metallic grey. Texture is more subtle overall, lending tension to the edges as they shift from cool to warm. The red areas rise from the bottom of the piece, concentrating and getting brighter and more saturated in the top red shape. This piece is part of a series of highly chromatic, saturated colorfield paintings exploring color interactions across edges and layers.
