Amy Hein- Eastern Mountain Avens Mug
This hand painted mug is made with brown stoneware clay and features Eastern Mountain Avens, native to Nova Scotia, Canada. Handwashing is recommended. Mug measures 3.75 x 5 x 3.5” and holds 13 oz The inspiration for this mug came from the idea that everything in nature is connected. Each eco-system and all the animals within them are connected and depend on the health of the Earth and human coexistence to survive. Plants are one of my true passions, from gardening and plant walks, to herbalism and exploring wildflowers along my travels. Eastern Mountain Avens are one of the most endangered plants in Canada, and only grow in two locations in the world. One of these places is along the wetlands in southwest Nova Scotia, on Brier Island. This population of avens was almost killed off due to agricultural development where the wetlands were drained. This area is now owned by The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) and is a Nature Reserve. The NCC leads habitat restoration projects and partn
