It blooms in the autumn, with flowers in deeper shades ranging from orange-yellow to orange-red and crimson. The flowering period is short, concentrated in the autumn months of August to November. Its fragrance is relatively lighter compared to other varieties of osmanthus. The leaves of the Dan Gui (Sweet Osmanthus) have a deep green color on the front side. Among osmanthus trees, their leaves are the thickest. It is an evergreen small to medium-sized tree, reaching a mature height of 3-8 meters.
