LEGACY AIRINE: One of the great legacy carriers of Africa, Sierra Leone Airways was more than just a national airline - it was a symbol of hope and connection for the people of Sierra Leone. When the airline was founded in 1958, it brought a sense of pride and possibility to the country, as it embarked on a journey of growth and development.   Over the years, the airline became an integral part of the country's identity, connecting Sierra Leoneans to the rest of the world and promoting tourism in the country. The airline also helped to train many Sierra Leonean pilots and other aviation professionals.   Sadly, the airline faced several safety incidents in the 1990s, leading to a ban on operating in European Union airspace. The airline continued to struggle financially, and in 2002, it was liquidated, and all assets were sold off.
