Bedouin Camels
These brightly adorned camels called Petra their home. They were the preferred mode of transportation for Petra’s current inhabitants, the Bedouins of today, and their ancestors of millennia past, the Nabateans. Camels were, and still are in some ways, an integral part of these nomadic tribes’ way of life. Just a glimpse of this picture transports us back in time to 1BC. Imagine being perched atop this industrious dromedary, caravanning exotic spices, perfumes, fabrics and goods along the Silk Road and throughout the Arabian Peninsula. As the old adage goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” We think this one tells a story of an ancient civilization past. Brett took this shot with his Canon EOS 6D using a 24-70 lens.
