After School Snack, 2019, Akilah Watts, Barbados 12in x 12in Acrylic on Canvas Free Shipping On this Artwork! “After School Snack” is a painting from Akilah's Beautifully braided series that depicts a local(Barbadian) snack we call a Suck-a-Bubby. It is essentially what others call a cool-aid or lolly but it is created using some form of juice that is poured into a bag and frozen. Like many Barbadian children I would have grown up eating Suck-a-bubbies, they were the snack of choice after coming from school and talking the walk home. In the hot Barbados sun, the snack was refreshing and provided a little hydration on the way home. Artist Bio: Akilah Watts is a contemporary Barbadian artist who works with many media including drawing, painting and mixed media.
