Ptychosperma macarthurii Palm Tree
Ptychosperma macarthurii Palm Tree Ptychosperma macarthurii originally from northeastern Australia and areas of New Guinea is a very attractive and colorful medium sized clustering palm that has become widely distributed as an ornamental. Stems grow in dense clumps up to 20 feet tall and only 3 inches in diameter, thus appearing bamboo-like. Ptychosperma macarthurii enjoys full or partial sun, is tolerant of a wide range of soils and is very drought tolerant making it an easy and widely adaptable palm. Macarthurii is fast growing and clusters dense enough to make a tall hedge. The large clusters of brilliant red fruits make it desirable as an ornamental. The MacArthur Palm will also do well as an indoor/outdoor potted plant. Practical, beautiful, low maintenance, what more could we ask for?
