Rhapis excelsa, var. Koban, ‘The Puffy Leaf Japanese Lady Palm’   Description: ‘Koban’ is native to South China and Taiwan, grown as a dwarf variety reaching heights to approximately 8 feet with 1 inch diameter multi-stemmed clumps. It has wide, short, stiff leaf blades that have a very ornamental “puffed” appearance and edges that curve downward. As the plants age, the sheaths fall, revealing the bamboo-like trunks. This palm is low maintenance, drought tolerant, and prefers partial shade in slightly neutral to acidic soils. ‘Koban’ is cold hardy, withstanding temperatures up to 20 degrees fahrenheit without damaging the plant.  Comments: The Rhapis genus is ranked highest in a NASA study for enhancing air quality, removing organic toxins from the air, including benzene, formaldehyde, and ammonia. The rare Japanese puffy leaf form is a more whimsical version of this fantastic low maintenance genus.           ❄️ Winter Weather = add a Shipping Warmer ! 🔥 Notes & Policies: All pl
