Ptychosperma sanderianum Palm Tree
Ptychosperma sanderianum Palm Tree This highly ornamental small to medium lightly clustering palm has an open habit and very skinny 1” dark green bamboo’ish stems stems that tend to curve away from each other. The crown is sparse with narrow leaflets. Fruit matures to a very ornamental and brilliant deep red. P. sanderianum is fast growing in partial shade and a moist warm subtropical or tropical landscape location. It does well in containers and stays under 10 feet for easy relocation to protection during cold spells. Tallest stems can be thinned to permit easier accommodation. It tolerates full sun well when mature. This is one of the few Ptychosperma's in a large genus that checks all the boxes! A beautiful deep green bamboo’ish super skinny trunk with a light clustering habit and a feathery moderately dense canopy of fine leaflets. An extremely graceful palm with similarities to P. macarthurii though much smaller in stature. Sander's Palm is a super versatile and ornamental palm.
