California Poppy seed sampler

  California Poppy - Eschscholzia californica (Full Sun, well drained, zone 7-10) You will receive 1/4 teaspoon of california poppy seeds collected from my garden.  You've seen these before, if not in person, in wildflower photos. These whimsical bright orange flowers are a favorite to watch as the heavy bees land and the blossoms dip with the added weight. They manage to blossom despite neglect and relatively limited water. They start with a gentle green plant of thin lace like leaves which eagerly sprout pointed flowers complete with their own little saucers. The flowers spiral open and push off their tiny pointed sheaths to open. After their season is up they have long seed pods that dry and pop open to disperse their seeds in what must be a clatter of confetti for little garden creatures.  I like to pick them just as they are about to burst to feel them pop in the palm of my hand.    Because of the extensive information about seeds/plants, I encourage each customer to look up the i
