Naturally occuring it is rather course and granular since it is in the metamorphic class of stones. Polished however, this beauty is smooth and glittering. Zoisite was named after the Austrian naturalist Baron Sigmund Zois von Edelstein for his work in identifying Zoisite as a unique mineral.
