07/21-07/25 Make the Moves the Masters Made

Make the Moves the Masters Made: Students love to play “Guess The Move” when reviewing master games – it’s a fun activity that helps to build tactical vision, imagination and pattern recognition.  This camp is filled with opportunities to guess the move and see if your intuition agrees with the moves the masters made.  In some cases you will be asked to find moves that the masters missed, i.e. hidden variations that did not occur in the game.   We will go beyond the guesswork and carefully analyze the options to understand why the masters played the way they did. Through this process, beginners will repeatedly practice simple tactics and see what works – and what doesn’t.  Advanced students will develop their calculation skills, paying particular attention to the opponent’s defensive resources.
